New HW Champion
This is just an idea but one that I think is a good possiblity. The original idea of the Grand Prix would that it would either be for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship if Overeem made it to the finals or that if Overeem didn't make it to the finals then it would be for the top contendership. Since obviously neither is going to happen why not make the finals for the championship. It's not like there is going to be any other viable way to determine a champion. Thoughts?

Reading like that, HORRIBLE idea. A champion has to fight his way into defending his belt.
I hope they don't crown a new champion anymore since the organization is going to die anyway.

SF is dead, no point in crowning a new champion, what I used to love about SF was watching the organisation grow, every card was just getting better and better, new signing where improving the quality day by day and the organisation was on the up, it was a beautiful thing to watch progress, but that has all changed since Zuffa took over, Diaz, Mayhem, Reem already gone, you can bet your life that Melendez wont be far behind, there LHW division has been put on stall, fighters like Feijao, Mousasi, King Mo and Roger Gracie are getting so little action its pittyful.
Fuk SF I not going to watch it die while the UFC strips the fighters out they want, fuk the GP Zuffa screwed that over the second they pulled pout the Reem, they have nothing left to interest me so fcuk them, I just hope Showtime cut them from there schedule so we dont have to sit though and watch its demise any further. To name a new SF champion would be insulting.

Mousasi recently had a fight in Dream, not a quality opponent but at least we got to see him perform and not sit on his ass. As far as Feijao, Mo and Gracie, we're going to see all 3 of them very soon.

Yeah, there are still some good opponents and fighters in Strikeforce. For the most part I still think they should have champions. They are going to finish the Grand Prix so why not?

They finally threw Izumi to the wolves. I wonder if the kid actually thought he had a chance.

It makes sense to do that.... but as has been mentioned, it looks like zuffa is going to fold Strikeforce about April sort of time, so it would make sense to use make the winner of the tournament the number 1 contendor for the UFC title.

Well it could go both ways. The winner would become the Strikeforce heavyweight champion and the number one contender for the UFC title. Just don't have him fight for the duration of Strikeforce.
