"King" Mo Lawal Loves MMA, But Isn't a Big Fan of the Fans
Quote:
|
"I love the sport, but I don't like the culture," Lawal told Pro MMA Radio. "There's a lot of fans that aren't educated and they don't care to get educated, they're stupid, man. Good fighters ... when they lose? All of the sudden they're cans. Look at Fedor. He went undefeated for how many years and all of the sudden he lost a few fights and he's a can, he sucks. You know what I'm saying? C'mon, man. When Michael Jordan signed with the Wizards, did he suck? When Ali got beat by Trevor Berbick, did he suck? A lot of these MMA fans, they don't understand any other sport. Ask them to name five boxing champions, they probably could name none. Name five top level kickboxers, they probably can't name none. Name three top International wrestlers. They couldn't name none. They don't take time to research top level stuff. They just listen to what the announcers say and don't take the time to research."

I agree with his talk about the bandwagon thing but he is a bit harsh, isn't he?

hahahaha, you can tell Mo would fit right in with the Mayweathers (although I gotta love Floyd) and 50cent, he runs from the mouth all day long!

He is 100% correct. I've been saying the same thing for a while. A lot of UFC fans are not really into sports all they know is UFC.
They don't respect anything unless it's fed to them by Dana or Joe Roegan.

As much as I don't like the generalization Mo makes, I have to say I understand it. There are plenty of posters on this very forum who now insist Fedor never beat anyone good, which is ridiculous.

King Mo might be harsh, but he's putting it out in a way that can't be misunderstood. You have to realize that since he's an active fighter himself, he's saying this as someone who hears (and is targeted by) a lot of the stated criticisms. He's definitely venting, but it's understandable as to why.

Its pretty much it! In some fans eyes, Fedor went from being a god to a tomato can.

I'd agree with Mo if I could because I don't get why MMA fans aren't into other collision sports like me. But don't have to go around calling them out... to each their own.
