Good fight. OSP is a rangy fighter, it will be interesting to see how Gegard finishes him in the first round. :thumb02:

The next major Strikeforce event is set to go down on Dec 17, and while several fights have been rumored, very few have been confirmed by the promotion itself.

One bout that has now been made official by the promotion is a light heavyweight match-up between former champion Gegard Mousasi and rising prospect Ovince St-Pruex.

Strikeforce officials confirmed the new bout on Tuesday.

Former champion Gegard Mousasi returns to Strikeforce for the first time since his last bout there with Keith Jardine ended in a draw. Mousasi did have another fight after that while competing in Dream where he defeated Hiroshi Izumi by TKO.

Facing Mousasi in December will be former Tennessee football player turned fighter Ovince St-Preux. The one-time SEC stand out has now won his last 8 fights in a row including four in a row in Strikeforce.

“OSP has been wanting this fight for a long time,” St-Preux’s manager Nima Safapour from Alchemist Management told MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday. “It’s a real honor to compete against a warrior like him, and we are excited about the fight.”

The bout between St-Preux and Mousasi is the latest addition to the card set to take place on Dec 17, although no location or venue has been announced for the show.

More fights are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Can't f'n wait. Mousasi has this one.

Heres hoping Mousasi comes in to prove a point about his wrestling.

I think Mousasi takes this comfortably in any shape honestly.

Yeah his win over Abongo really set him up to fight Mousasi. :confused05:

Once Mousasi beats OSP i want to see him against either Kyle or Feijao, those would be sick fights.

Does anybody know when the qualifying matches or sth are for the 2012 summer olympics are?

This will probably be Mousasi's last fight in Strikeforce considering they'll be killed off in February.

Really hope he comes to the UFC, lot's of good fights for him there as long as he stays away from Rashad and Jones.

Yeah, who knows what's going to happen. He might take some time off from MMA as well, seeing as he wants to go to the olympics.

I do think St. Preux is a bit over-hyped (in addition to having a stupidly jocking nick name), but Mousasi was taken down by Jardine... albeit, Jardine is a cagey vet.

But it's not out of the question to think St. Preux will get Mousasi down here. Gegards TDD is absolutely atrocious.

Though given his experience edge, do lean toward Mousasi KO'ing St. Preux, or sub'ing him from his back if/when he ends up there.
