Kickboxing amateur

Heyy there guys, this is a great site, anyways im 15 years old and train with up and comer UFC fighter Jeff Joslin at Joslins MMA. I've been doing kickboxing for 3 months now and have my yellow belt. I train kickboxin 5 times a week, while training in summision wrestling, ju-jit-su and boxing. I was just wondering if I could get some advice on when i should start sparring, and is kickboxing the best route to go? thanks...Laurenzo

I'd say start sparring as soon as your coach/teacher will allow you to. While you're most likely too young to compete (I don't know the rules in Canada), you can still get some experience by sparring with people you train with.

As for kickboxing, I'd say one of the ideal arts is Muay Thai, but if you're doing Western Kickboxin, I wouldn't imagine it would be too hard to learn knees, elbows and some of the Muay Thai clinch on your own.

You should have started sparring right away. You don't have to all out in a spar, if you're new. You'd gradually get better.
I don't know why your place didn't start you on sparring on your second day there...most places do.

Some places hold off on sparring so a rookie can develop technique before they can develop bad habits from sparring.

The first day I started MMA training I was put in the ring to spar, but every instructor is different.
