It gives the fighter's a break and in alot of cases, the round ends while the fighters are being moved.
I think they do stop the time, just sometimes the clock on the screen keeps going, but the official time gets stopped. For example in one of the fights (I forget which one), they were resetting the fighters in the middle of the ring toward the end of the round. The on-screen clock kept going and by the time they were reset it was down to less than 10 seconds, but they kept going for a good 20-25 seconds after that. If they don't stop the clock however, that sucks.

I like the ring. The ring makes viewing from the crowd easy. The one thing I always hear people complain about (myself included) when you're in the stands watching a cage match the chain link fence and the posts at all the corners really takes back from your view. If you're like me you also have the cheap seats and your view is limited as is. Most of the time when I went I would just watch the monitors they placed around the arena. I tell you this, if I wanted to watch it on a screen I would have stayed home. It would have been cheaper, better seats, cold beer, and less rowdy fans.

If they have to move they have to move. People complain about the time it gives the fighters to relax but in many UFC fights (and other cage fights I've bean to) the fighters will often grab the fence repeatedly (more than ring fighters grab the ropes). They will sometimes even clinsh agianst the fence to rest themselves. Many times (as I saw in Kos vs. Joslin) Jeff would try to flip Kos and the cage was in the way. The ring has give to it and makes it easier if your near it to be able to exicute ground skills as apposed to a cage where it can get in the way.

Neither. I don't pefer one over the other because both have there pros and cons.

The ring sucks because of the fight stoppage for getting tangled and the octagon sucks because you can grab the sides and position yourself for the win.

I would like a change to be made such as a "Roman Colliseum" type enviroment with solid circular wall with two solid doors for fighters to enter. Fans are elevated above so everyone has a nice view and will hear all the action. The wall could be rubber so fighters can't grab at it and there is no way to get tangled for restarts. But that's just me.

The ring is cool because strikers can use the corners to their advantage when they back their apponent up. It getting stopped all the time cos they're on the ropes sucks though, but a square cage wouldnt work so I guess you can't win.

Defeintly prefer the cage, I hate it when they have to stop the fight to move it in the middle of the ring. Its been one of my pet-peeves in Pride for along time

Thier isnt to much of a difference except the fact when youre in ring, you can get pushed out, just like rickson gracie did that one time.

That is the exact same reason I like the cage/octogon more then the ring.

Cage. Cage. Cage. As said before, the fight stopping is lame. I also hate when the refs ont he side hold the ropes and what not. There shouldn't be ANY interference with the fight unless its a ref stoppage. Period.
