Dan Henderson - P4P, All-Time

Dan Henderson has just done something that has never been done before. He now holds two major world championship belts in two weight classes at the same time. Where does this put him in pound for pound talks? How about greatest of all time talks?

I believe this easily puts Dan in the top 10 P4P if he wasn't there already, top 5 on my list. As for greatest of all time, I don't know about that just yet, but you certainly have to give the guy some consideration. What do you think?

Although, if the event was hald in Japan, and the exact same fight, Wanderlei would have kept his title, and why you ask?

The damn american rules! In the first round Wanderlei had Dan in the turtle position, and would have easily won in Japan, but this is the down side fighting in America, the noobs and their rules..

Sorry if I sound rude, but Dan only won because it was in the US, and now this is 2 fights Wanderlei got screwed due to rules!!!

Not taking anything away from Dan, he's a stand up guy, and for Pride and MMA, having Dan WIN in the States will help KILL the UFC (although i dont want ti lose the UFC, i say just almagimate them into ... well.... Pride)

Dah well, He would still KILL Chuck!! haha

For most of you, ignorance is bliss, but for me it's about the truth.

Bets won:
4-0, Admins taken down in bets 2 (asskicker, Jdun11)

He def has my respect. He accomplished what every champion talks about, which is holding titles from both divisions!

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

No excuses!

Both fighters have to fight with the same rules, so I'm pretty sure Wanderlei won't make any excuses. I've always thought Dan was very solid, but that knockout (especially seeing as how his right hand was broken) puts him tops in my books. Beating the champion at a higher weight hasn't been done, so good for him.

GSP will do it in the UFC though in the next few years, but Dan is still the man and will always be.

I kinda agree with that. Wand had north south on henderson in that fight and would've kneed the ever living sh%$ out of his head had it been in pride. Everyone has seen this in pride over and over. Not saying that would've finished dan or makeing excuses for wand cause i did pick it as a upset im just saying it might have made a diffrence.

now we jus gotta see what the talk is going to be of

hendo vs chuck ( great matchup IMO, similar to couture vs chuck)

or

shogun vs chuck (another great matchup)

hendo might squeek out a decision, or a ko
shogun wins by whatever he wants.

all the respect in the world to hendo but IMO he doesnt deserve to keep his welterweight title considering he hasnt defended it once and has had it for more than a year now and i see paulo filho taking it away from him and ofcourse shogun is gonna take the other belt from him

Wandy would not have finished hendo if that was a 10 minute round. Hendo came right back after that and landed two solid shots of his own. Get over it, Wanderlei got DOMINATED!! Even his own trainer said Wand wouldnt have won if it was in Japan.

Yeah, it's sad to hear people making excuses for Wanderlei. He himself took the high road and didn't try to make excuses. He downplayed the sickness and gave Dan Henderson the respect he deserves. This is part of what makes Wanderlei so special and a true champion even if he doesn't have the belt anymore.

Yeah he had a chance for knees to the head in the north-south position, but who's to say that would have won him the fight, or a 10 min. round. Maybe he knees Hendo in the head an KOs him, or maybe Hendo reverses him and KOs him. Maybe Wanderlei would have KOd Dan in the first if it went longer, but Dan wasn't just covering up, he was throwing back, maybe Hendo would have caught him and dropped him there. You can't go by what-ifs. Both fighters had to fight under the same rules. The better man that day won. Get over it.
