Was Strikeforce ever better?
For years there has a been a small but very vocal minority of mma fans that made claims that the best fighters in the world were in Strikeforce. Shields was supposed to be one of those guys. I'll give him a pass for his last fight, because his Dad had just died. However he wasn't better than GSP, the UFC's best. By the end of the year we will have seen three current champions and one former champion in the UFC. None of these fighters are taking on the best in the UFC, but other Le, they are all fighting top contenders. Do you think these fights will have an effect on what people thought of Strikeforce? If the Strikeforce fighters win will it silence the haters? If they lose will the loyalists admit that they were wrong?

Strikeforce was never better, the only thing they had over the UFC was the Heavyweight division but they could never make the guys fight each other until the Grand Prix which ended up with a replacement in the final.

Strikeforce put on some great fights though and that's what should matter, they were a solid number 2 but no one is going to be touching the Zuffa empire. Personally I wish all the fighters were in the UFC just like all the top football and basketball players are in the NFL and NBA.

They've never have been nor ever will be better overall but they still have good fighters/fights.
And agree completely with Legion.

My point was is that there were always detractors that claimed that a few fighters were better than anything they had in the UFC. There were guys who always said Overeem(used to be Fedor), Shields, Diaz, and Melenedez are better than any of the top guys in the UFC. These upcoming fights will at least end that talk one way or another.

they were never better in any way. yes they had some great talent, and yes they put on some exceptional shows. but were never ever "better". as much hate as Dana gets, he runs his ship and he runs it very well. i remember when they had a UFC event one weekend and SF had one the next. InsideMMA covered both weigh ins each week. The UFC was completly streamlined looked and sounded great... it was like an event in and of itself! the next week they had the SF weigh in... and it was a cluster f*&k and a half.... i had seen cell phone sex tapes that had better production values, and the weigh ins were delayed also cuz there were 2-3 fighters who hadnt shown up yet..... seriously!!!!

were they entertaining? absolutly! Better? not a f*&king chance!
