Muhammed 'King Mo' Lawal targeted for 'Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine'
Quote:
Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (8-1 MMA, 3-1 SF) is back on a regular schedule.
After an on-again, off-again stretch of activity courtesy of a knee injury, Lawal is expected to make his second appearance since returning from his layoff when he fights at "Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine."
Sources close to the event today confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and stated Lawal has yet to receive an opponent.
"Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine" takes place Jan. 7 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event's main card airs live on Showtime.
Lawal's return came this past September when he topped submission specialist Roger Gracie by KO at "Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov." The win came 13 months after he lost his Strikeforce crown and suffered the first professional setback of his career with a third-round TKO defeat to Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante at "Strikeforce: Houston." Afterward, he took time off to heal a busted ACL.
Lawal, a former NCAA Division II wrestling champ at the University of Central Oklahoma, won the belt in April 2010 with a unanimous-decision win over Gegard Mousasi at the CBS-televised "Strikeforce: Nashville."

Jardine is headlining the event
Maybe it is time for Strikeforce to fold.

Feijao rematch?
Can't say I'm happy about Strikeforce staying on the way it is, I think they'd be much more beneficial in a farm league type of system, guys like King Mo, Feijao, and Mousasi need to be in the UFC.
Strikeforce already lost a lot of credibility with Diaz/Hendo/Reem and Melendez on his way soon, their belts mean nothing.

Wouldn't that be interesting. Is Butterbean still fighting or is he retired. I knew he was considering retirement recently.

I've always been a Strikeforce supporter but this title fight is ridiculous. Horrible matchup. I doubt this fight would have been made if SF was still an independant organization.,

Well if anything else I think they would have Jardine fight some more. This title shot was pretty much almost handed to him. Remember that Zuffa is still trying to keep it up for the Grand Prix.

LOL, for non hardcore fans Jardine is probably the biggest name left that Strikeforce has. Thats why they're headlining him.
