I think the WEC was there to promote the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. As they merged into the UFC and Strikeforce's contract was close to it's end, there was no reason for the WEC to stick around. I think Dana plans to replace the WEC with Strikeforce as a secondary organisation.

Maybe they'll move to whole thing to Japan and start some stuff there? I remember a DW interview a while back on how they wanted to make a new org in there.

I don't think they're adding lighter weight-classes, those are already too thin in the UFC.

The big news could just be some details in their new deal with Showtime, perhaps more shows or tournaments for the vacant titles?
