Sources close to the contest confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday.

Ronda Rousey has made a meteoric rise in MMA in her brief stint in the sport. A former Olympic bronze medalist in Judo, Rousey burst onto the scene in 2011 and racked up four wins in a row.

She most recently defeated Julia Budd in Strikeforce in only :39 seconds, and immediately called for a fight with champion Miesha Tate.

The sparks began to fly at that point with Rousey and Tate going back and forth in interviews and over Twitter.

Now it appears Rousey will get her wish and face Tate in her first title defense in March.

Tate captured the belt last year when she defeated Marloes Coenen in July as part of the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson card in Chicago.

A winner of six fights in a row, Tate now faces Rousey in what will be a marquee match-up on the March 3 Strikeforce card headed for Columbus, OH and the Nationwide Arena.

Rousey by Arm Bar in Round 1. It's happening. Cyborg better watcb out!

Ronda by tko in the third. Tate is a good test for her though.

Tate is a good wrestler but she's in way over her head here fighting Rousey. Rousey can beat anyone in strikeforce right now including cyborg.

Cyborg would stomp her, no way she gets ccyborg down even with her superior judo she's not going to have the core strength to throw and keep down Cyborg, stranger things have happened but IMO the odds are very slim she could beat cyborg.

Ronda's dumped dudes on their head, she could takedown Cyborg. Carano mounted Cyborg, so I think Ronda, with her Grappling ability would be able to take Cyborg down, and submit her. Cyborg's strong, has power, decent muay thai and good Jiu Jitsu, but she's not unbeatable. Ronda's the girl to beat her.

Dumping someone on their head in judo I've done a lot of, doing it in mma with strikes and no gee is a totally different world and so is keeping them down after. Im not saying Ronda can't throw her but I don't think she will be able to capitalize on it.

IMO Cyborg would knock her out but now you have me wanting to see that fight because I think Ronda will sub or g&p Tate but I don't have any conference either will give Cyborg much of a go.

I do want to see it though, I hope strikforce goes and scoops up as many female fighters as they can and turns it into the ufc of woman's mma.
