Mo Lawal: I will do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of this.

Strikeforce section doesn't get much traffic these day's so a new thread on the matter won't hurt.

Quote:
Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Muhammed Lawal took some lumps from fans and media yesterday after the NSAC revealed he had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in relation a January 7 bout against Lorenz Larkin. Lawal has since responded to the commissions findings and, rather than admit wrongdoing or even the possibility of unknowingly ingesting something illegal, hes defending his name by flatly denying the result.
Im very surprised about this, said Lawal in a conversation with ESPN. I am very careful about what I put into my body. Ive never tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Ive gone through, and still welcome, Olympic-style testing.
Lawals next fight will apparently take place behind the scenes rather than in the center of a cage as he plans to investigate the matter and hopefully figure out what happened.
I will do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of this, Lawal continued. Im not a cheater. I might cheat at video games, but I never cheat at fighting.
As is customary procedure, King Mo reserves the right to appeal his pending suspension/fine and will clearly do so as implied by his statements to ESPN. If he fails he will likely be looking at 9-12 months on the sidelines as well as losing a significant chunk of his paycheck from the win over Larkin.

Does this thing sound a little fishy or is it just me? Mo doesn't strike me as the type of man who would use banned substances, especially the one he supposedly did. I don't see why an athlete for the better part of his life, still in his prime and making a name for himself would do that. And i doubt his stupid enough to talk like this and deny everything if he had used steroids.

Actually that's probably exactly what I would have said if I was guilty and didn't want to admit it. I think he did it, that stuff doesn't just get into you body, you put it there. I'm voting 100% guilty on this one.

i don't know anything about Lawal and i'm certainly not going to judge him one way or the other. I just dropped in because the thread title caught my eye and made me laugh a little.

It reminds me of O.J. promising to spend his life searching for the real killer.

"Big Papi" David Ortiz said the same and never delivered answers. He also was someone i didn't think would cheat.

“I will do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of this,”

Would you... not take steroids?

I'm surprised anyone is defending him on this, he failed a test, it's pretty clear. Could there be a mistake? Sure, that's why they always have two samples, right?

Right now he's guilty until proven innocent.

Wow..I'm starting to think Chris Leben is the only one who actually admits he cheated...everyone else just makes them selves look like more of a douch..Not just MMA..other sports as well...

Here's how Mo can "get to the bottom of this"

1. Admit he did it
2. Stop doing it
3. Be tested regularly and test clean from now on

He screwed up his cycle or whatever he did. Just don't do it. If you just never do it, there is a 0% chance that you test positive. Keep tested regularly independantly to have backup if you're paranoid and it will be a non-issue.

Its getting to the point now where you have to wonder how many of these guys are doing it. Likely he messed up his cycle and it wasn't out of his system like planned when they tested him. I'm sure that's going on far too much for what I would prefer to believe.

Either just don't do them, or do them and take the consequences like a man (or woman).

Every guy who gets caught comes out with this same bullshit and none of them are ever able to prove anything. Just admit you did it, take your licks, and move on with life.
