Mike Kyle Injured and Out of Strikeforce Fight with Gegard Mousasi

Quote:

Mike Kyle‘s hope to secure a Strikeforce light heavyweight title shot will have to wait a little longer.

The San Jose, Calif., based fighter has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming bout against Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey due to injury.

Sources close to the fighter confirmed his withdrawal from the card to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. MMAJunkie.com first reported the change.

Kyle was set to face Mousasi as the co-main event for the Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey fight card, with the winner almost assuredly fighting for the currently vacant light heavyweight title in their next fight.

This now leaves a void at the top of the card and Mousasi without an opponent.

Former light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is currently under suspension after testing positive for performance enhancers after his win over Lorenz Larkin in January.

The only other top name that could be a viable option would be Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, who is also a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.

At this time however, Strikeforce has yet to make any announcement about the move or even if Mousasi will remain on the card.

Was really looking forward to this fight. Im guessing it will be too late to find a replacement..

Bring the man over to the UFC and have him fight Hendo, already. As much as I want to see SF grow into something more, there's simply too much talent being squandered. I'm sure Keith Jardine would take a second fight on such short notice (his move to 185 aside).

Shit! I've wanted to see this fight for so long now. 2nd time it's been off now right?

Bring him over and let's see Shogun-Mousasi. If they'd go toe to toe and only strike, i'd see Mousasi take the classic fight. Any news on Mousasis 2012 olympic plans?
