Shaolin Kung Fu

Do you think Shaolin Kung Fu would work in MMA or UFC?

I've heard how rigorous their training is. They punch rocks to break every bone in their hand, recover, then repeat till their hands get really hard.

Also heard they climb walls using nothing but their fingertips.

I think if a monk was allowed to fight, he would do well with some mma training.

I'm glad I'm answering in this thread early before the flaming by MT, boxing, and know-nothing guys starts.

Shaolin Kung Fu has a few areas where it would be helpful. Things like body conditioning, mental development, and things of that nature. However, from the stand point of competitive fighting and how it applies to MMA. There are very few applicable techniques in Shaolin Kung Fu.

Pat Barry, Dan Hardy and I think a few others trained shaolin kung fu at one point.

I guess they would be most educated to answer the question. I don't know that they've talked about it, though.
