The one Sentence GFX Tips Thread

I thought we could start a thread to help each other out with tips. Post a 1 Sentence graphics related tip that you think could help others. Im sure we can all learn from each other.

Heres my first one:


Layers are your friend. Use them for everything you add to your piece and name them!

Give yourself a chance, always start out with the very best photography as it will make your life much, much easier.

Preset brushes are handy, use them to add lighting and depth and enhance your focal point

Don't use a lot of brushes. Smudging and blending look a lot better.

Once we get more tips in here I'll move this with the other tutorials and sticky it.

Another tip...

Always add a border, sigs don't look complete without borders.

Here is another:


When resizing images, smaller is good, bigger is bad. Everytime you make your image bigger, photoshop needs to regenerate the missing pixels and you lose quality.

I don't have a tut but I can give an example.

Use a soft 200px round brush in white to lighten areas or black to darken areas. Play around with the settings (lighten, overlay, soft light etc) to get it to look good.
