Right too be more specific.... How to I get the render into my sig? This question might seem stupid to you but I am very new to Photoshop, and want to start competing in competitions, so your help would be useful to me. Thanks for the time.

Once you have the image cut out(using the pen tool, magnetic lasso tool, etc), you right click the image and click "make selection", a window will pop up, put the feather from 0.5-1, depending on how rough the image is, then click "ok". After that, just drag the selection(the part you cut out, it'll have an outline around it) into your sig.

To resize the render after putting it into your sig, make sure you are clicked on the render and go to: edit - free transform - then hold shift(so the image stays the same quality when you shrink it) and size the render down.

Hope this helps.

You can also cut the selection (Ctrl+X) and paste it into the new document (Ctrl+N, add sig dimensions) the paste it (ctrl+V)

Also the free transform shortcut is (ctrl+T). Holding shift whilst resizing keeps the dimensions relative.

Bump. Sorry for the double post, but I've got another question (sorry). The double post is just to bump the thread, so when other people start to post on this thread again, a mod could merge my posts. Anyway, here's the problem: When I type on my sig, it doesn't show up! Any help? Sorry if I'm not being very specific, but I've tried most fonts, sizes, and colours, but they're not showing up. All help is appreciated.

Once you have your text in the sig, make sure the color of the text doesn't make it where it is difficult to see against the background you are placing it on. If say you have black text on a bright background/image, and it is not showing up, then your text could be under the image/background layer. If that is the case, drag the text layer above the render/background layers, then it should show.

Also, don't be sorry for asking questions, we're all here to help as much as we can.

THANK YOU! The text was underneath the background.
