Best way to take down a heavier opponent

Hello

What do you guys think that are the best techniques to take down a heavier opponent in submission (no-gi)? Double leg is hard for me, because Iím light and I donít have too much explosion power. I also get caught sometimes in guillotines, but thatís a technical problemÖ

If you have some suggestions for me I would appreciate it. Lately Iím starting to think in some throws from the clinch, that I think that donít require so much strength, and for MMA that's good for me because I have good knees, and if I could add some throws from the clinch that would be great.

Any help is welcome

Thanks

IMO the best wrestling technique is an outside single, similar to what Randy Couture did to James Toney. Once you get the outside single you use it to kind of circle the guy down. Some people prefer to pull it straight up but I always found more success doing what Randy did and kind of circling down. You can also use a trip when you grab the single.

practice Uchi Mata, O Goshi and Ippon Seoi Nage.

Or get really good at omoplatas, and either finish or use it to sweep and take their back. That way you can pull guard if need be.

It's good to have as many options as possible.

If he has problem with getting caught in guillotined on a double he doesn't want a head outside. Ankle picks work great for me personally.

Outside single doesn't get your head inside like a double though. When you finish a double you use your head against the body to finish, on a outside single you slide on the outside to pick the leg and from there you have options. Like I mentioned my preference is to circle it down, some pull it straight up or like I also mentioned you can go with a trip. Outside single is very similar to a pick.

Thank you all

If you don't matter, post some videos that can show the takedowns that you are talking about

Is this the same technique Sonnen used to take Anderson down on the first round of their second fight? I thought that was brilliant technique, the way he circle making Anderson to lose his balance?

That was just finishing a double if I remember correctly.

Yeah it was just a regular double, Anderson was overcommiting on his strikes and Chael went deep. There was no stopping that TD once Chael shot and IMO Anderson was never trying to, based on his decision to come out swinging.
