best no no-gi submisisions, no-gi bjj and sub grappling discussion

in my opinion the far superior and more practical type to practice.

what are the most effective no gi-submissions for you?

i have to go with chokes mostly for no-gi:

guillotine

triangles

rnc

anaconda

triangle

arm triangle

gogoplata all are very effective

as for locks the most effectice for me no-gi are:

kimuras, armbars, kneebars

those are usually the locks a find grappling

No-gi I tend to focus on a lot of joint locks, just because some chokes are easier with the gi (RNC, for instance). There is a variation of the ten-finger guillotine (by Chris Brennan) that I picked up from a magazine a little while ago, that's my favorite no-gi choke.

My favorite lock (and overall submission) is probably the achilles lock. I don't know why, I just like doing it and you can do it just by splitting your opponent's guard, you can fall back and catch it from the mount or rear mount and you can even land it with your opponent in a full mount on top of you (if he leans back). I'm also a fan of the toe hold when I can get it.

i like to attack from the back, with or with out the gi, i belive the best attack possition is from the back and rnc, you have alot of control, and it is hard for them to counter.

yea i would say RNC, triangles, guillatines for chokes. Gogoplatas are effective if you can pull it off so i definitely would NOT add that to this list. if your facing some frat guy who has no idea wat he is doing you might get it but i have never got it against someone who has grappling experience.

i think the best subs. are ones that if you fail you are not left in bad position. ie rnc, arm triangle, kimuras, from guard or side, paint brush.
i like the achilles lock, but the draw back of this and other leg locks is that they are a all or nothing move. if you get it you got it, but if you miss you are in terrible position.
