I've Got a Problem

So I have a problem. I am going to High School next year so I put a school that I liked and had a wreslting team on my applacation. So the school dosen't pick me and I was really hopeing to go there. So what do I do I really want to start Wrestling so I could Potentially go on to MMA. I am already in BJJ. So what should I do?

well im in grade 12 now and ive never done proper Wrestling (canada give shit all about school sports) and I doing ok. I'm 6-1 in local mma tournaments. Just find some people at your gym 30 pounds near your and just practice with them, i find it really fun and you learn alot.

Haha, you do bjj and youre in grade 8 right now? Same here.

Well, the high school im going to next year doesnt have a wrestling team. But thier is a school 10 minutes away, it has a wrestling team, and im going to join that one.

Basicly what im saying is, go to that high school and find a close high school with a wrestling team, you are allowed to join another high schools team.

Or you can just ask to try out again.

i would not just walk in and join. the best person to talk to would be the coach. make a deal, by cleaning the mat to learn to wrestle

Well I think I can do 3 things 1 there's a guy at my BJJ school that is filling in as a high school wrestling coach I think I could ask to go there. Then there is this AMAZING judo guy at BJJ (I mean AMAZING he beat Karo in a judo match) I could ask him to help with judo. Or I can just join a Judo school.

your education is more important at this point in your life.

your chances at being successfull at mma are slim.

beside juijitsu will give you most of the skills you need

At thos point i would have to agree. Keep training and concentrate on education and then talk about mma. A lot of colleges now offer BJJ and Muay Thai (at least mine does and some friends of mine) and it is relatively easy to get involved with mma programs through them. If your really dying to compete then i would suggest talking with your judo friend to inquire as to how and where you can go about entering a competition for purely judo or bjj first and then think about an mma match.
