if youre in someones gaurd you are in trouble, may or may not survive no matter what you do. but the biggest thing you have to do is number one stay out of someones gaurd, second thing which i never see people do, is you have to hold their hand and wrist down and hang on it to relieve some of the pressure off you youre throat and wait for them to get tired and slowly you will be able to slip out.

standing most times guys will jump guard or something to that effect to try to get their legs wrapped. so basiclly this gets you to the part of the ground. if your getting caught in this standing, your not keeping you head up while looking for grips. or your are shooting in with no drive, once in a whils i get caught in this choke while shooting because i may be running a combo for a takedown and i did not get my head to his body fast enough, but i still drive for the takedown and i don't ever remeber being stuck in a standing guillotine.

do not let them control your hips with their legs(ie. letting them get their leg around your body), turn my chin to their ribs, pull down on their wrist with my outside hand, i post with my inside arm(fist in solar plex, my forearm to their neck), i have used knee on belly a few times to get out, breath through mouth(i feel i can hold longer in this choke this way), relax your neck(if you really fight it you'll have a sore ass neck for a few days), if keep getting caught in this your get some cauliflower ears.

this choke is a windpipe choke and with out the proper angle and hip control it is the worst idea to try to keep. i have seen many burn their grip thinking they have it when in reality they are really doing a half ass neck crank.

interesting. do you find it hard to get out of once you are in your opponents guard though?

So when you have the guillotine and the guy puts his hand through, and you want to finish the move?

Ideally, you want the arm on your head side in, because then it's just not a choke.

Defending with the opposite arm in the guilloting, I always try to pull down with the arm I have in, to break the clasp on the hands. Once you break the hands up, you're good to go.

I actually find that getting the arm caught in the guillotine is a disadvantage, because you lose the use of an arm that could be busy helping to loosen the forearm that's in your throat or breaking up the clasp.

My defense for the guillotine is to pass guard, because once you do that there is no choke. That's another reason why I like the arm free in the guillotine.

In the event that I do get it caught, I place my shoulder in his chest, get up on my lets and slam down on it until he drops off. He can't defend it by sweeping the legs without either losing the choke or losing guard, so I'm generally pretty comfortable from the position.

It's suprisingly easy to life a guy when you have an arm in the guillotine, becausethe weight is centered pretty well for that Rampage straight life slam. Hopefully that works, if it doesn't I'm out of ideas.

Oh really? So its just take downs and pins? Ohhhhh...
Well, can i put him in guard and stuff? Could i sweep him?
How do you pin? Is it like wwe where you raise their leg and the ref counts to 3?
are you serious?:bye02:

thanx ironman:thumbsup:

Aight this is tough to explain, but lemme try-

Let's say I'm in his guard, he's got a full guillotine, my head trapped in his right armpit. I bring my furthest arm (my left) over his neck not to crank on the throat but to trap his head while simultaneously pulling down on the wrist of his right arm (The one choking the shit out of me). Keep pulling down and circle clockwise, pulling your left arm into a bent position (like curling him). Swing your left arm over his head and crank back with your tricep to trap his head against your left hip while pulling an almost-crosside-like position while his legs are still locked around you. Hang in this stalemate until he releases the guillotine. This can be made quicker by leaning your weight accordingly and cranking in on the head simultaneously to apply pressure to the neck. He won't tap, but he will generally release quicker.

This defense is a derivitive of a guard pass I use (my favorite to second-favorite). It may be essential to understand and utilize the guard pass prior to attempting this defense....

I actually dont know. So why is their submission wrestling?
Submission wrestling is an entire different sport. It's much more like BJJ competition than actually wrestling. Like folkstyle wrestling and BJJ, you get points for stuff, but it's much more like BJJ in that you have to finish with a submission where as in wrestling you have to get a pin.

Submission wrestling is BJJ rules, more or less, with a different point system, backed by a different style of fighting

what i do is as soon as they go for the guillotine is slip my arm close to my head between the arms to relieve pressure and try to escape and at the same time i make sure to not let my legs get caught cause once that happens they can apply pressure to the body by stretching it out
