I'm thinking of doing NAGA in november

I've been training for a month now and I feel very confident that I am learning and progressing quickly. I feel that by November I would be ready to compete as a novice in NAGA. I practice with classmates that have been doing it much longer and are Light Heavey Weight while I'm Middle Weight and I can still submit them at least 1 out of 4. Any advice on how I should prepare myself both physicaly and mentaly for this? To help out I'm 5'3, and I weigh 170lb [and I'm not fat] I just weigh a lot for my size and I'm pretty strong for my size too. I'm most comfortable from a side mount.

Practice passing the guard and try to get on top. In Naga a lot of guys sandbag so you might be out of your league so good luck

I say go for, at the very least you'll get experience out of it. I did the last NAGA in wildwood a few weeks ago, I lost in the third round of six HW Novice division. The important thing is that I learned so much from the fights. I learned that the only position I can't defend is the side mount, and that I need to work on my cardio and takedowns.

I do also feel like there were some sandbaggers there. Spar every opportunity you get between now and then.

YOu should definitely do it. I went to my first NAGA in August and I'll definitely go back in November. As was stated before, try to practice as much as you can. Work, on guard and quick transitions. Also, work on defending sub attempts while on top. A lot of guys pull guard and work from there. IF you're competing in more than one division, try to gauge when to eat so you're prepared for the next fight. Good luck!
