How does grappling effect your ego

So here's the story... last night in our no-gi grappling class after the class was pretty much over (we were done with techniques) I rolled with a guy that was stronger than me but I know I'm better than him. (to give you an idea of how bad he is he tried to put a keylock on my arm while I was on top and in his half guard). Anyway, I didn't crossface him while I was pulling my leg out to pass to mount and he grabbed an arm triangle on me... I lost my post and he rolled to mount on me and I was too tired to try to fight it off... and I tapped.

Afterwards he was trying to give me advice... but I was so pissed that I lost I wasn't really listening. Last night I couldn't sleep I was so mad that I lost. It wasn't the fact that I lost that bothered me so much (although I can't really sleep then either) but what bothered me most was who I lost to. I've been obsessing over it ever since. Does this happen to a lot of you too? Should I just try to take it as a learning experience and forget it? Am I just being too cocky to think there is someone that I shouldn't lose to? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Its alright to be upset if you made a mistake, no one wants to be the one who gets owned by the noob.
Oh and it ******* pisses me off sometimes when people who flat out suck give me advice.

dude, dont sweat it. everyone has their off days and grappling with a stronger guy when youre tired is going to have its challenges. any grappling practioner has times when they feel like banging their head against the wall because of a mistake/loss. it was in practice anyway. chalk it up to a learning experience and forget about it. most importantly, dont hold a grudge against the guy who made you tap.

Yeah that happens to me sometimes. You have to try to let it go but I usually cant until I either grapple again or beat that guy. Just try to not be too pissed lol. That is the best advice I can give you. I also HATE when people tap you and then try and give you advice. I dont mind getting advice but you have to understand that right after you sub someone that they are not going to be in a happy, advice taking mood. I never give advice after a submission because of that. It is easier to accept when you recognize that at least it wasnt in competition.

Dude, if you know youre better, then dont even care about losing that one time. Just prove yourself another.

I know how u feel i go to ninjitsu and jiu jitsu classes. The lads at the ninjitsu class are alot bigger and stronger then me but i still try to use proper technique when i am grappling them but all they do is squezee my head and bend joints with no technique and then try and give me advice. it drives me mad.

I almost got choked out by a friend with 0 experience in any martial arts a few days ago. I was drunk and went in for a tackle to pick him up, and the guy jumped up and wrapped me in his guard with a guillotine choke. Anyway he choked me fairly hard for a few seconds while I was in a standing guard and I ended up falling face first down onto a concrete path and almost splitting my head open. This guy has no experience in anything,he just watches UFC. I was drunk, being cocky and did something I would never do in a real fight, but still it was embarassing.
