How long does it take to get a black belt? Training like twice a week?
Becoming Shodan(1st Dan Black Belt) is a frequently asked question and trufully it is impossible to answer because there are to many variables let alone it varies a lot from person to person but i would say on average around 5 years.

Hey. I'm a Judo newb.

My signature moves (aka the only ones I can reliably pull off) are O goshi, Osoto otoshi, and Tani Otoshi. For ne waza, I like juji gatame, ude gatame , and sankaku jime. Unfortunately, the armlocks are often catch and release, since one of the teachers (who usually runs the sunday class) doesnt approve of lower ranks doing armlocks.

Highly opinionated but out of touch with the current MMA scene.

I used to do Judo alot when I was in School. In fact a group of us all joined up at the same time, it was really fun. But like an idiot I gave it up because, I "couldn't be bothered" training anymore. Classic teenagerism. . . Some of us got pretty good, highlight was coming second at our county championships (I guess that's like State Championships in the USA). My best mate beat me in the final, lol.

I loved the groundwork more than standing and I'd sometimes just give up a throw (obviously not an Ippon) to get to the floor. Liked Udi Garame (that's figure-four right?) alot, especially from a couple of the holds, can't remember exactly. . . ummm Broken Scarf-Hold or something? Side control rocks. I can't remember what it's called but the blood choke you get with your hands by grabbing the opposite lapels from mount and rotating your wrists. That was a favourite too.

Only throws I really liked and used effectiviely where Morote-Sei-Onagi and Tai-otoshi. See I remember them. Liked them because you could do them from various grips and from neutral (double centre grip) so could easily go right or left. Though the only Ippon I ever got in competition was from Harai-Goshi. Totally winded him. It was pretty sweet.

Nowhere round where I live though that does it.

the top 2 links did not work for me, as for sambo we have a couple guys at my judo dojo, these guys are very good judo players. i was trying to learn this throw until i was spiking everyone of my team mates, so i just gave up on it, i landed it 3 times out os 15, and i did not want to hurt anyone else.

YouTube - これがサンボ*っ(37) Gadavlia

0:00-0:08 the throw is shown in a trounament
YouTube - Khabarelli judo

if your going to rep. sambo rep it right with a true sambo throw, not a judo throw wearing sambo gear.....
