Official Judo Thread

Here is a thread for Judo discussion whether it be Techniques, Competition, Kata or MMA.

If anyone needs to ask a question about Judo then feel free to ask, I know we have a few good Judoka on this forum.

So Judokas of MMAForum...show yourself.

Introduce yourself as a Judoka.

Well here is a first question, Who do you think the best Judoka in MMA is(By this i mean the best at Judo as a whole and at Judo competition) And apart from Karo who do you think has used Judo very well in MMA(Not just throws).

Who do you see in MMA that uses Judo and is not labeled as a Judoka?

GET OUT!!!(Evil Stare)

Just kidding.

Geesink is a huge guy he is like 6'7 or something and weighs a fair bit. He is a 10th dan and in the IJF(International Judo Federation) hall of fame. If you interested in watching legendary Judoka like Geesink i suggest you watch Kyuzo Mifune who was a master technician.

Me to, I did some BJJ and MMA with some pro fighters and great BJJ guys and it was fantastic...I hope i can get back to cross training as soon as possible.

Lombard is great, I have seen his fights(Great throws) and talked to him. He does a very nice Harai Goshi against James Te Huna which dislocates Te Huna's arm.

Minotauro Nogueira also mixes Judo/Judo Newaza and BJJ together very nicely.

I'm really interested in Judo and really want to start learning some, this is a cool thread. Sambo is also very cool, and anyone interested in it should take a look at these links:

Beginner Lessons:
How to do Sambo Martial Arts | Expert Village Videos

Advanced Lessons:
Advanced SAMBO Martial Arts | Expert Village Videos

There is seriously some really good stuff in there. My favorite:
The Kick Up, Throw Under Leg Move in SAMBO Martial Arts: Self-Defense Course | Expert Village Videos

The largest sport is Football(Soccer).

I haven't had experience in Sambo or Hapkido but here is pretty much all the help i can offer.

Judo
Judo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sambo
Sambo (martial art) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hapkido
Hapkido - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also Judokas, What are your signature and favorite moves?

My signature/best moves are Tawara Gaeshi(Bale Throw), Uki Goshi(Floating Hip), Ude Garami(Kimura), Juji Gatame(Armbar), Hadaka Jime(Rear Naked Choke and Gullotine Choke), Gogoplata and Arm Triangle.

My favorite technique is Uchi Mata.

I don't do it at the moment but I will next year, and I have friends who do it so I learned a lot sparring with them in Judo matchessort of things where we just practised takedowns.
How long does it take to get a black belt? Training like twice a week?
