takedown

i made a post about takedown defense a while ago, and received a bunch of good info. i was just wondering what your favorite takedown is? what do you think is the most effective etc...?

personally, i'm new to the sport so i'm still trying to get over the whole "i'm gonna bulldoze over you and waste all of my strength in the process." thing.

I'd say as long as you take them down its all good. I like the double leg shoot.

double leg or single leg works real well if they dont have a good take down defense. If you get into the clinch, you should probably learn some judo throws and then pass his guard

I like the double leg. We also practice one in the clinch. I'm not sure what is called, but you get the person off balance and the side you have the under hook on you shoot your leg behind theres and take them straight back. You end up in half gaurd most of the time. Matt Serra uses this takedown a lot.

yeah thats pretty effective if you can overpower your opponent. i've fought a couple bigger guys in sparing and they stumbled when i did this but were able to stay up. i might not have had good leverage on it. who knows.

If you want my advice go out and play some contact sports. I learnt how to take people to the floor in rugby and american football.
