What about the japanese MASAHIKO KIMURA, that man who is a legend in Japan and actually defeated the father of modern jiu jitsu, Helio Gracie?

The Japanese choked out Helio during the match although, the brazilian continued, but was later put in ude-garame or later renamed kimura after him.

Otherwise, I'd go with Helio.

Masahiko Kimura was a judoka, not a BJJ fighter.

leo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I cant believe Roleta isn't on this poll. His career in competition did end kinda early, but he did beat Saulo rather soundly twice.

There's so many talented BJJ grapplers in the world today, past and present and it is impossible to choose any one as being above the rest. That being said, if I had to choose just one it would be Rickson Gracie mainly because he has been recognized as the best BJJ practitioner in the world for a long time and I've heard nothing but good things about his grappling first hand. Whether he is 400-0 is another story, however Rickson gets my vote.

Also, where is Carlson Gracie Sr.? He's definitely one of the greatest Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of all time.

Well Marcelo is my favorite Bjj fighter for sure... but I wouldn't say he's the "greatest Bjj fighter of all time." That's a pretty prestigious title

Rickson is the best a bjj, no one questions that. ask any of those guys and theyll tell you. most top guys competiting now claim he taps them out quickly.

i dont like the guy to much but hes good...as far as having done things for the sport helio and royce both did more...so did royler.

not sure why marcelo is up there...yeah hes really really good, but not on the short list of best of all time good.
