I just realized that this was the question. If I had to pick one guy today, it would probably be Hughes, just because he's so fundamentally sound. Nog and Fedor are also great picks.

What about BJ's grappling skills? Hughes has great takedowns but so do other former wrestlers like Diego Sanchez, Sean SHerk, Josh Koshcheck, Rashad Evans, etc.
Rashad Evans??Josh Koshcheck?? ....they dont come near top 20 for grappling. Josh Koshcheck has been submitted and put in dangerous submissions with his grappling.Rashad Evans he takes the his opponent down and doesnt do much. His last fight with Sam H Rashad was about to tap.

In my opinion Big Nog and Fedor are some of the best in MMA.
Matt hughes has improved big time.

Yeah, Em's right with this one. Koshcheck has sloppy submissions and Evans is good, but not particularly dominant.

If we're looking at slams, which is all that Rashad's got, you have to give it Rampage. As for Koshcheck, how did he come up?

Frank Shamrock!

If u want to mimick someones grappling style Frank Shamrock is the guy. Don't get me wrong Noguiera and Fedor are also great picks but Frank is a good teacher and he's one of the best grapplers out there to this day. He is a very smart fighter and I think u can pick a lot of stuff from him. There is a DVD u can check out called Frank Shamrock MMA Training Seminar, u can get it at almost any major dvd store.

Any one got some clips of Frank? I have heard of him never actually seen him fight... And when he and Ken retire they should both go to the WWE as a tag team... AFTER they are fully done with thier MMA carears.

I have to agree with you here, Frank is a very intense grappler and has excellent control/submissions. But I think Cotoure is the best all around grappler, he is so good at disarming his opposition and keeping them where he wants them. combine those two and WOW
