I wouyld agree he is great but as for one person to mimic I am not sure I would take huges and Gracie and kinda combine them and I think you would have a very very potent grappling style.

What about BJ's grappling skills? Hughes has great takedowns but so do other former wrestlers like Diego Sanchez, Sean SHerk, Josh Koshcheck, Rashad Evans, etc.

My pics would be Nogueira and Fedor. If you combined those guys grappling skills you could control and sub anyone.

Hughes and all those wrestlers have awesome takedowns and control so they would be great if your looking for ground and pound. Fedor would probably be best if you were looking for ground and pound though.

If your looking to submit people try Nog or Yoshida from PRIDE both excelent submission artist.

I love Sean Sherk's wrestling, but I think Hughes is the best in UFC.

Nog's gotta be the best grappler in Pride. He's a savage.

BJ's got the best submissions by far. Regardless of league and weightclass, that dude has the best choke in the business.

All great choices. When it come down to great pure wrestling ability, I would say that some of the best names that come to mind would be...

Couture
Coleman
Lindland
Randleman
Severn
Kerr
Hughes
Sherk

When it comes to bjj, judo and other sub guys...

Nogueira
Shamrock
Sakuraba
Sperry
Gracies (take your pick)
Parisyan
Penn
Rodriguez (before he went down hill)

In my opinion, Fedor falls more in the middle. He can grapple, pound and sub just about anyone. But maybe I am a little biased there.

There are a lot of other great grapplers and submission fighters out there. These are just the ones that popped into my head at the moment.

I think doublelegtakedown mentioned diego sanchez, but I would stay away from anyone that had that much trouble applying a choke.
