What is a bulldog choke?

Im jsut wondering WTF a bulldog choke is... I was curious after reading that Carlos Newton beat Pat Miletich with it.

I think I may know what it is, a North-South choke?

If you could describe it, or send a video on how to do it, that would help. Thanks

Ironman's reponse is a link just click on it for the fight. It's like a headlock almost execept the person applying the choke is facing forward and I guess you are trying to cut off blood supply.

Be careful.

There's a reason why no one uses it in MMA anymore. If he pops his head out, he has the back.

It presents the same problem as any attack from the scarf hold in judo. If you don't have the gi, scrambling come a lot easier and you risk losing control of your opponent.

Also, generally, rep is given to those who supply useful videos and who surf through links to find that kind of stuff (though mma-core has made that a lot easier).

Yeah, i'm gonna ask to try it and let him try it on me, just to see what it's like and how to get it, etc.

I think another reason why nobody uses it anymore is because in the Bulldog choke, you're so close to a Rear Naked Choke, and as you said, it's not a reliable choke, so they just go into the RNC.

that is also called a headlock, it is rarely used because the chance of escape vs the chance of finish is not worth it. and while applying you are always in a bad position

"every second your not training, he is..... and he is doing it, just to kick your ass"
