Headlocks
Quick question:
How do you get out of a headlock when your opponent has one of your legs locked?

i don't know what sort of tequnique escapes you might want to try but i have had a great amount of success breaking headlocks with posted elbows and hammerfists.
I don't scrap on the streets any longer but as a miguided youth I used to have a big head of dreadlocks and it was nearly impossible for me to pull my head out of a headlock so i got good at quickly finding the face and dropping the elbows or hammerfists. worked like a charm every time and i most often found myself on top. i think the mentality of putting someone in a headlock goes a little something like 'shit, i dont want to get hit in the face', which does not lend itself well to getting... hit in the face.
no one is going to finish you with a headlock unless you panic. let them spend the energy to hold on, while you tenderize their face.

depending on which side you're on reach your hand from behind their back and push back on their face. With the other hand grab their balls and lift throwing them onto their back. Courtesy of "Got Fight?"-Forrest Griffen

Standing or on the ground? Do you mean a guillotine from half-guard?

Standing, no ground.
I was at work the other day, and me and this dude i work with talk a lot about fighting, so he started pushing me and i go to pretend to take down, but hes serious and puts me in a headlock, locks it, with my leg as well, so im like what the hell? you know. SO now i'm just curious as to how to get out of one standing. SO next time, ill damage his face?

ah, in that situation... just joking around... taking your inside arm put the palm of your hand on the bottom of his chin. Then, reach up with your outside arm to the same spot and put your outside palm under his chin as well. Push up. tweaking his head back will probably convince him that holding the headlock is not a great idea. they key to breaking a normal headlock is to simply not panic. it doesnt end a fight, it's just annoying to not be able to move your head. work with your hands.
pounding on the face of a coworker who's just joking around is probably not the best way to break the headlock. haha.
if he headlocked you from behind then you can simply wrap your arms around his body, lock them and take his back. drag him down or pick him up and drop him if you're so inclined. if he has you from the front then you are pretty close to being choaked so be careful if you take him down not to land in guard. landing in side control is you best option, but if you land still in half-guard then reach down and pull yoru leg out lickity split because if he's got some sense he'd going to try and wrap those legs and tweak. enjoy

Do you mean he put you in a cradle? If so one way to escape is to superman out. Which means you explode and do a superman like motion going flat to your belly with your arms out and forward. And your legs kicked back. That should break it.
Note: This is a wrestling technique and would put you in trouble in bjj. But since someone having your back in wrestling isn’t as dangerous it works fairly well.

Man, head locks are garbage. If you know some one who has a dvd series with Renzo gracie and Greg Kukuk " or something like that" they have a whole dvd on it and show all the basic. You could always go for the slam..... Ill try and write this out, hope you understand, put arm closest to oponent around back and grab arm "to prevent being punnched-take a small step around to the front side- post other hand on opponents far leg - fall to your butt holding opponent -
you should end up in a position " most of the time" where you can go to a side mount type position
