I don't see how it's biased reporting??

The report says that the people THOUGHT the dog was a pitbull. It says later in the article they confirmed the dog was a mut...part pitbull and some other stuff as well.

There is no mention of people being responsible, which is of course the case here. If you have a dog, you keep it on a leash or inside. The article makes it seem like they were attacked SOLELY because pit bull roam the streets at night looking for babies to hunt.

But to stay on topic, I sometimes lay on my back and put my pit bull into triangles.

The Rear Naked Choke (or Mata Leon)was known for being the only chance a naked (unarmed) human could have to subdue a lion.

I saw a gif on 4chan where a zebra kicked a lioness' head off.

It was a LHK. Are there zebras in Croatia?

To answer your question, no. BJJ is not the recommended solution to an attack.

To use your examples-

Black Bear- Just get out of the area without drawing a lot of attention to yourself. If you get the bear's attention try to make yourself as big as possible. If the bear decides to tangle with you then drop to the ground and cover up your vital organs and hope for the best.

Gorilla- Avoid eye contact and assume a non-threatening posture. Realize that if you tried to roll BJJ with a gorilla it could quite easily just pull your limbs off.

Backyard Dog- Stay standing, try to calm the animal, and back up trying to find a stick or something to swing at it if absolutely necessary. That is a great story and link but if that dog would have reversed from back control to guard that kid would have probably lost his life. Working on the ground with a dog trying to viciously attack you isn't the best recourse as you have given him much easier access to your neck and other vital areas.

Basically - No... Don't try BJJ on animals, save it for your siblings.

I agree with Fieos, save your bjj to your sparring partners. Using it on animals is just too risky. Unlike humans - animals have claws, they're very powerful, they could have rabies , and becomes really unpredictable when agitated.

Professionals come in a team of two or three just to diffuse a single black bear or a gorilla. And they use guns and tranquilizers just to put it down. No amount of bjj or muay thai skill can go up against an angry bear. A right hook from a bear can cause cerebral bleeding or worse lose your head.

That kid is very lucky to have even subdued that dog. I woulda run or chuck something at it if I was him.

A good sparring partner is the best way to practice your skills. If you don't have one, a good ground and pound bag or grappling dummy could be good especially if you wanna train at home.
