Since i don't know much about belts, please can someone explain it to me: how do you gain your belts in BJJ and what does it take to get one?

For starters you have to be 5th Dan to grade in TKD and i think you need to have a 5th dan to be head of a dojo in order to allow lower black belts to teach classes
im 4th Dan btw:P

True, In some places to get a Judo black belt it is faster then BJJ but they still have to be good and get comp points and kata and regulations apply but in some places and with some organizations however this is not the case. In one organization you get a black belt after 5 years of joining Wtf?

Point of that story is that belt ranks can be deceiving. You have to look at the credibility of the belt rank as well.

it really depends on your Sensei or Trainer b/c there ae the shit schools that grade fast
it's take me 15 years to get where i am in TKD thats being trained by a Korean Grand master

You want to look at the family tree of his belt. If your a regular BB I believe that you can give out any belt besides a black.

My friend jusrt got his 2nd Dan in TKD, he's been doing it around 10-12 years.

ah well thats fine.....he can't grade black belts for sure and im pretty sure theres a couple others he can't grade

Well he's been teaching there for about 3 years and his sensei is leaving the dojo to him in a couple years.
