I just switched and started training at a new school and the guy there got up to his brown from Gracie Barra before he left. He went train with the Machado's until he got his black. He's pretty good so I don't mind.

There are some schools like Gracie Barra that will give a blue in as little as 6 months. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. To get my blue I had to train 5-6 days a week for a year and I was beating most blue belts I was rolling with.

Yah, they're really McDojo's bud. They just hold the most wins and most medals and take home first places more than any other academy. Idiot.

I know GB down where I live wins all the tournaments. Mostly because they are so big they bring down like 300 people and most other teams have like 20-30 people tops. Even if most of them suck they beat you by shear numbers.

I've rolled with some really good GB guys though, I don't consider them a joke in my area.

well in vancouver GB is big

they dont win all the tournaments and they dont put their guys in our tournament

hey east van mma

do your home work dont read the ads you see

most bjj tournaments are won by marcus soares' team

just look at the club

dens kang
adam ryan now owns dynamic mma and MMA fighter
Adam Zugec now runs zuma
Stephan kesting - you have seen his videos
benito segura - won gold medal in major bjj in all contenents
multiple pan am champs winners

all taught by a 7th degree black belt in BJJ and one of maybe 20 in the world that holds a red and black belt

they club may be small but the talent wins and wins most team tournaments

east van mma benito is opening up a bjj club in east van next month check it out and than tell me what you think of GB

Also when Big Nog comes to town does he ask GB owner grappling questions

Nog gave a big speak about how he would not be where he was today with Marcus

I guess the GB owner flew to Montreal to the GSP camp at Tri Star and gave grappling tips

I guess GB owner talked to Shogun about how to fight Chuck Liddell

I guess when Mauricio Motta Gomes and his son Roger Gracie who are GB guys come to town they phone up GB owner and talk about grappling

I guess GB owner has rolled with Carlson Gracie, Mario Sparry, Murilo Bustamante, Rickson Gracie, Mauricio Motta Gomes, Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti (founder of Alliance BJJ)

I guess GB owner has taught guys like

Ricardo De La Riva
Ricardo “Rey” Diogo
Wallid “Paraiba” Ismail
Marcos “Conan” Silveira owner ATT
Carlson Gracie Jr.
Alan Goes
Ricardo Liborio ATT owner

I guess when GB owner goes to Brazil he teaches at main Carlson Gracie Academy in Rio and at the main GB academy in Rio as well.

I guess you guys are right the GB owner in Vancouver is much more qualified

When I said that GB wins all the tournaments down here, let me clarify. They win on overall points. That's not saying that they win 1st in everything, but 20 3rd place finishes beats 1 first place finish.

im sure your club is a good GB in Louisiana

but i am talking about here in Vancouver Canada

lots of good GB clubs out there from the guys that started it

but u have to admit, more and more guys are opening up clubs under the GB name that should or are not qaulified to do so

but i was talking to eastvanmma who obviously does not know the BJJ community in Vancouver

Let me ask the ppl in the thread something

would u rather go to a bjj club with a person who got his black belt through a person through another person that Carlso Jr gave a belt to

or would you rather go to a club from a guy that has a 7th degree black belt and is the highest ranking BB under Carlson who taught the Carlson Graice academy for 20 years before moving to Canada. A guy that outside of brazil is one of the highest ranking BB in north america

most people have never seen a red and black belt

i see it at every roll i go to
