I'm not with GB, I'm under Machado's. There are a couple of GB schools around me though. I don't mind them, but don't agree with everything they do. I think they promote a little fast and there are a few other things I don't care for. Overall they aren't bad and I've trained at their places...

We weren't talking about the best BJJ school in the lower mainland. We were talking about the fact that some think Gracie Barra is a "Mcdojo". Gracie Barra holds the record for wins at the Mundials. (the most important bjj tournament in the world):
Gracie Barra 164
Alliance 89
Gracie Humaita 76
Nova Uniao 58
Brasa 35
Carlson Gracie Team 27
Brazilian Top Team 21
Do your homework.
Marcus Soares is without a debt probably the best instructor around. Well in Canada for that matter. I'm not disputing his credibility. But to try to down play Gracie Barra is just stupid and ignorant.

no i am disputing the fact that GB in Vancouver is mcdojo in Vancouver
3 months to get blue belt
as a matter of fact GB has stated in their guidelines they will be instituting blue belts after 3 months and they will incorporate different color belts
this will star to be a common occurrence with GB in the next couple of years

I guess GB owner talked to Shogun about how to fight Chuck Liddell
I guess when Mauricio Motta Gomes and his son Roger Gracie who are GB guys come to town they phone up GB owner and talk about grappling
I guess GB owner has rolled with Carlson Gracie, Mario Sparry, Murilo Bustamante, Rickson Gracie, Mauricio Motta Gomes, Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti (founder of Alliance BJJ)
I guess GB owner has taught guys like
Ricardo De La Riva
Ricardo “Rey” Diogo
Wallid “Paraiba” Ismail
Marcos “Conan” Silveira owner ATT
Carlson Gracie Jr.
Alan Goes
Ricardo Liborio ATT owner
I guess when GB owner goes to Brazil he teaches at main Carlson Gracie Academy in Rio and at the main GB academy in Rio as well.
I guess you guys are right the GB owner in Vancouver is much more qualified

Wow, you really are an ignorant bastard in regards to BJJ. We have Renzo Gracie, Marcio Feitosa, Kyra Gracie, Braulio Estima, Carlos Gracie Jr. etc. come and train every year or few years with us. Dont think Marcus Soares is the only guy that has well ranked, well known BJJ practitioners come to do seminars. and like i said, i'm not disputing Marcus's credibility. I'm well aware of the BJJ community and other schools and practitioners. Marcus was one of the original students from Gracie Humaita in Brazil in the 1970's. The guy is a legend. But please quit comparing him to other instructors as if they're not qualified.

You're are an absolute fool. if you think that Gracie Barra Vancouver is a Mcdojo, keep thinking that, and remember dont feel bad when you're looking next to you and the guy's hand is being raised, and they turn and you see a Gracie Barra patch on their back.
And giving out blue belts in 3 months? lol ya ****in right. Why don't you pop in to Gracie Barra Vancouver and express your concerns that they're a McDojo? Why don't you ask Tim Shears if he gives out blue belts in 3 months? he'll laugh in your ****in face. One of our top coaches is amazing and competes constantly, he received his purple belt after five years with us. So please dont talk shit when you dont have a ****in clue of what you're talking about. I guess when Braulio Estima trained with us in January he thought we we're a McDojo as well? or Maybe when Renzo does seminars with us he thinks the same. Dont be a fool.

When did i ever say that, or compare him to Marcus Soares? Get your head out of your ass. I think all the training has gone to your head. The one thing i think Marcus had failed to teach you is control your "EGO", something you have failed to do.

Not to kick a dead horse, but Looks like the "Mcdojo" just won the B.C Opens! With Team Carlson Gracie coming in 2nd.
