I was watching UFC 107, Penn vs Sanchez and had some questions.
Sanchez spent the entire fight shooting for BJ's left leg. BJ would counter by controlling Diego with his left hand and punching / elbowing with his right hand(BJ's power hand).
Wouldn't it have been better for Diego to wear down BJ's left leg with leg kicks, then shoot for BJ's right leg in an effort to take him down? Would that be better in terms of forcing BJ to utilize his right hand to control Diego's head, and punch / elbow with his left hand(maybe a bit weaker than his right?).
I wonder about this type of thing as it seems more or less everyone goes for BJ's left leg -- so I was wondering if his left leg was a better target for some reason.
He shoots for BJ's left leg because that is his lead leg, making it easier to get a single leg. who knows why he didn't work some kicks or anything first but that wouldn't mean BJ would've switched his stance up at all making it easier to get a single leg on his other leg.
I say screw it ... Clinch and do a hip throw or leg sweep... screw the single/double leg take down.. How original!
