I stopped taking BJJ a few months ago, but the instructor still has me on the e-mail list, and they held promotions sunday. apparently I gained another stripe even though I haven't been to class in like 3 months! haha, I't wasn't for me anyway. I like No-Gi way better.

I cant fathom why i haven't earned my stripe yet. My Academy is quite large (Gracie Barra) so we don't always get the most individual attention, however guys that have joined well after me, have already received their first stripes. guys that i still tap out. I definitely don't want to bring it up to my professor as that would be whiny and disrespectful, i know a stripe is just a piece of tape but it would be nice to be recognized for my effort. Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Don't worry about the stripe it will come. It took me two years to get my blue belt (I wrestled all 5 years in high school too). Getting promoted is not just about tapping out the blue belts. Come to class often, and make sure they see you put in the effort. Ask Professor Rodrigo to join the intermediate classes.

We're from the same academy by the way but I don't know who you are. Don't be afraid to talk to your GB teammates. Remember, "organized like a team, fighting as a family!"

And to everyone else, sorry to revive an old thread.

**** Stripes **** belts concentrate on your technique and nothing else

To be able to tell any man that he cannot defeat you is to wield true power Saulo Ribeiro (on Helio Gracie)
