punching bag as armbar dummy?

lol....i have a punching bag that i hit and work gnp on....so what if i duct taped one or maybe two objects (peice of wood with towel wrapped around maybe) to it to resemble arms and practicec armbars with from the mount or blackong the arms and throwing punches .(the guard would be hard to balance a 60lbs punching bag with)(maybe kimoras if i could get them to bend or two pieces of wood in one) is it a good idea? considering i don't do bjj or have a partner to practice subs with?

just with the punching bag

Real apponents wont let you armbar them as easily as a punchbag with a plank taped to it. I don't think it'd do you any good whatsoever. Sorry.

Actually it would do some good but most def even a bjj dummy isnt as good as havign a real partner. Join a class if you can

when i first learned an arm bar from mount it was on a wrestling throwing dummy that had arms. it halped alot wiht the basic mechanics but the feel is alot diffrent on a real person. leather and stuffing bends easier than muscle and bone.

i dont recomend it, it helps some people practice technique once they understand it but you cand just go by the dummy because it doesnt have real anatomical parts. for joint locks like that you need a real person to practice with so you can understand it. You can armbar a bag with no joints all you want but when you try to do that on a real person you might be applying pressure in the wrong areas

ok thanks...just won't be joining a class that soon.......

i would use the heavy bag more for core work and balance than trying to do armbars on some 2x4 arms you taped on the bag...

i know not having a training partner has got to suck. do you have any bros or sisters? i have a bro and practice shit on him once in a while. but then again he's into mma too.
