Well I am not sure if you would call this a sweep but I love the omoplata especialy if I am going against someone that may not have alot of ground training. When someone gets a takedown on me I get in position to hook their arm on the way down and before they know it I got their back. Not fancy but efective.

Why omoplatas are so sweet is because they're both a submission AND a sweep! I'd disagree with you on the "not fancy, but effective part." IMO, it's both.

I prefer the Kimura sweep, because you can sweep, Kimura, or if your opponent leaves his neck out, you can guillotine.

I get into this situation when a guy is in my guard and throwing punches. As the punch is coming in slip it to the outside and catch the arm and head almost as if you are on top in the mount. At this point you are in the head and arm choke position, only on the bottom. From there you trap the same side leg and much like the kimura sweep roll him to his un-supported side into full mount and hopefully complete the choke. Maybe called something else officially

Fave: Elevator sweep

I like the pendulum sweep, too, but I get a little nervous about weaving my arm under a guys leg who has a good base when MMA sparring because if he sits back on your arm you're in a bad place!

Burt Grady has a little shameless behaviour in the past
The Yanks getting swept by the Astros. Cause of Clemens and Pettite, but the Yankees are just rich, and have taken all the players to their team, which leaves less for the little guys.

I'll, of course, get us started.

Favorite: Pendulum/Flower Sweep, without a doubt! It feels SO awesome to pull off and it's pretty versatile. You can do it in the spur of the moment to capitalize on someone's mistake or inattention, but it's also a great way to compliment or follow up on your armbar attempts. Also goes well with gift-wrapping or any time you can secure an arm. ITZJUSTSOAWESOME!

Best: See above. Though I'm infatuated with it, as if I just learned it yesterday, the pendulum sweep has been a staple of my game for the last year or so.

Worst: Butterfly Sweep. I can land the elevator sweep (one butterfly hook) on fair occasion, but even then, not very consistently on decent people. With two hooks, I can't do crap. It's very sad. I should get to work on fixing this, considering how valuable a tool this is.

I think sweeps are cooler than subs and this topic gets me all excited. Look forward to hearing from you guys.

this would basically be my post so I just quoted yours heh
The only thing is sometimes I hit this other sweep that I can't recall the name of, basically your shin goes across thier hips and siccor your legs, might even be called the Scissor Sweep I don't recall.
I might be better at that one then the Flower Sweep but I love to see the Flower in action and when it works I'm smiling before I've even hit Top heh.
