watch karo vs serra lol
the thing about judo is this. alot of people get to concentrated on the stand up game and the throws and forget about ground work but all the techniques that are in bjj are in jiu jitzu.
After all the person that created the ground technique in judo is the same person that taught the gracies. The triangle choke, arm bar etc they are all taught. The thing is alot of people dont practice it because chokes like the guilitine and leg locks are illegal but all the technique is there and there are also other throws in judo that are really devestating that are taught but you wont see.
My favorite one of those being kani basami other wise known as the scissor leg take down.

That quote made my "gross ignorance" alarm sound off like an air-raid siren. I guess that's because we all know that Masahiko Kimura defeated Helio Gracie by a soft inside leg reap, and proceeded to hold him down for 13 minutes using the tate shiho-gatame, right? That's why they named the Kimura after him, right?
Or maybe monkeys are flying across this bridge I have for sale...

I have trained both and like both. They both have strengths and weaknesses. I do like BJJ more but thats just my opinion. theres no ultimate style to tell the truth. It morely sepends on the person rather than they style I guess.

Um, Helio won against Kimura, Look at this video YouTube - Judo VS Jiu-Jitsu you can see that the newpaper says victory for Helio Gracie.
Also if you look at this Helio Gracie: Judo vs Jujitsu article, you can see that kimura out wieght Helio and was much much taller.
Also, the thing with judo is, a 13 year ol kid with judo experience canot tap out a 40 year old with no experience cuase strengh has alot to do with it, but in bjj the guy can be a body builder and you can be 10 and still tap him out 5 times in 4 minutes.

yes i saw the video, i looks to me helio the great was slamed then stuck under a full mount or side control.. the victory for helio was he did not tap. and do look at the photo i don't know much, but looks like kimura has a "kimura" and i think the only way helio got out was ref broke the action because a white towel flew into the ring to save helio from having his arm ripped out and taken back to japan with kimura and put in a trophy case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2wO3dHUYwQ
please show me when and where helio won this fight.... maybe i missed something. oh and the challenge came from helio to kimura...
