HDNet the Next Big MMA Org?
Do you see HDNet being a top competitor in the MMA arena? Why or why not?
I do, for a few reasons. First, they've managed to partner with existing smaller organizations to televise the smaller events (and therefore bringing some of the lesser known talent into the limelight).
2nd, they have already drawn the attention of multiple "big name" fighters. The Affliction card for example has finally brought someone to fight Fedor that isn't a total can in Tim Sylvia. The "big names" are regularly in attendance and with the mass exodus of fighters from the UFC I can't help but think they're at least considering the HDNet alternative as well as DREAM.
Finally, Dana mentioned them. Yes, the guy we all love to hate Dana White, spoke publicly about how there will always be someone willing to throw money at the MMA game (siting Mark Cuban specifically) but no one will ever be as big as the UFC (in his opinion). Dana's taken notice that Cuban is procuring fighters/organizations/venues/etc that could have been involved with the UFC but that's no longer an option. I think it's a sign of the future growth that Cuban has planned for the organization.
