IFL The International Fight League is an American mixed martial arts promotion billed as the world's first MMA league. Instead of the established norm for MMA events, where matchups are strictly one-on-one affairs, each IFL card is a showdown between two camps of at least three fighters, each fighter fighting one match against another in the opposing camps. The IFL is currently televised in the United States on FSN / Fox Sports Net.

What Should Be The Next Coach Superfight?
Which coaches would make a great superfight start for the 2008 season?

I'd like to see Igor Zinoviev fight Renzo or Pat. I think that he can make that a serious fight, even though I don't think anyone else is going to think so.
I'd also like to see Don Frye vs. Maurice Smith or Don Frye vs. Ken Shamrock.
I'd also like to see Marco Ruas fight Pat Miletich or Carlos Newton. I haven't Ruas fight in a long time.

Maurice Smith vs Don Frye would be interesting. Granted, they're both old and broken down, but I thought Smith looked pretty good in his last fight. Frye's a kneeless old guy, but he doesn't mind scrapping. Smith would destroy Don, but damn, that fight would be interesting.
Renzo vs Smith 2 would be fun, too.

If we are not counting Frank since he got released these are the fights that first come to mind.
Smith vs Sperry
Ruas vs Sperry
Pat vs Smith
Renzo vs Sperry
Renzo vs Ruas
Lindland vs Renzo
Lindland vs Sperry
Lindland vs Pat 2 (just to see Pat get his ass whooped again)
Ken vs Ruas
I don't really want to see some coaches fight anymore. Newton is terrible, Ian Freeman is ok but not great, Igor can't fight, Yasuda doesn't fight,Anacondas don't have a coach, and Frye is getting real old.

Isn't Shawn Tompkins the Anaconda's coach? Frye is old but not retired (although I'd agree with anyone that said he should be). Why can't Igor fight?
Mario, Maurice, the Shamrocks, Lindland and Renzo are the only ones I'd consider. Ken and Frank would be fun, but it won't happen. Pat is a bit too old now. Most of the coach v coach matches don't make sense to me. Kinda hard to describe why I suppose. The only superfights I find interesting are Renzo v Mario, Frank v Lindland.

Igor got his career ended by Frank back when Frank broke his collarbone and he retired after that.
Tompkins left the IFL or got fired or something. The Anacondas are going to be around next year they just don't have a coach.
And I know Frye is retired but he is really old like I said before.

Since it looks like Shamrock/Shamrock will be an EliteXC event in '09, SHamrock/Frye.

I wouldn't be shocked if Igor did get coaxed back into fighting. I don't think he ever wanted to leave, he just got beat badly by Shamrock (and got injured pretty badly) and decided not to anymore.
He's competed in Sambo since then, but he hasn't been the same. That said, I'd like to see him fight Carlos Newton or Ken Yasuda, or one of the less famous coaches as a co-main event before we start seeing him fight big names.
I'd love to see Ken Shamrock vs. Don Frye, but, unfortunately, I don't think that will happen. I don't think Frye will, or ever should, fight again.
I'd also love to see Ian Freeman and Mario Sperry fight, since their the two new coaches, though they won't fight each other.
My suggestion for the big coach superfight to start 'o8 is that they should do a big double main event (partially because this will help them get some attention, too):
Maurice Smith vs. Ian Freeman
Mario Sperry vs. Marco Ruas
I'd watch this event, and I think alot of long time hardcore fight fans would watch it too. Any thoughts?

I'd be all over that main event. I'd especially be excited about Smith/Freeman. I don't think any of that would happen, unfortunately. If it did, many fans would not be excited about it and would view it as the IFL being lame.
