Hey there everyone, new to UFC and need some help!
Hey there everyone!
This is my first time on this forum, and my first time getting actively involved in UFC. I started watching because of one my friends (they're an active fan), but I'm only now really getting into it.
They're really hesitant to tell me much in terms of explanation because they say I'm "Not a real fan." so I figured I could ask here about it and perhaps become a real fan.
I've only watched a few matches so my real knowledge about what's going on is pretty limited, but I feel a small flame in me that's interested in the UFC and fights but I don't really know everything that I'm watching.
For me it's not just watching two people slug it out either; I really like the strategies in the fights and the different reactions each fighter takes based on the situation, personal and opponent condition...and stuff like that. I think it's all pretty cool, I just want to know more so I don't feel mentally out of the loop.
So I was wondering, as a newbie is there anything you all would recommend I read, watch, look into or do to expand my knowledge and become more acclimated with the sport?
Thanks for taking the time out to read this! Hopefully I hear from someone. Take care and have a great day!
I know you are a noobie and I'm pretty new myself. But peeve of mine, the sport you are referring to is Mixed Martial Arts or MMA. UFC is just the largest promotion that puts on MMA fights. 1st lesson. You trane UFC bro?
It doesn't sound like he's trains in anything, he's a fan of the sport and just happens to watch UFC - likely because they are the largest name. I don't think he was implying the sport itself was called UFC at all.
I can't really give you a lot of advice myself, I've never been a fan of watching sports and I only just started training. One of the biggest things I'm told is not to stress every detail of what you're doing, it's not about creating a scientific formula in your head it's about creating the instincts to react and it's usually pretty straight forward.
The guys I train with might not be the technical type of fighter that you're looking for advice from either.
