o hay

What's up, I just joined because I took a sudden interest in MMA and stuff like UFC a few months ago.

Recently I've made the decision that I wanted to do some MMA fighting, so I told my dad, who somehow knows like every single business in my area (New Orleans). He told me that if I wanted to fight, then I should start with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Now, I watch the fights and stuff for entertainment, but I don't know about the fighting styles and such that the fighters use. So, my question is, is BJJ a good place to start? Another thing I would like to know is if I go to a place (BJJ place), I would like reassurance that it won't be like my years in Tae Kwon Do. I want some serious stuff, and I'm willing to put forth hours out of my days for it.

Thanks.

Go to a gym that has a specific MMA class...then you're pretty much guaranteed some training in BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, and Wrestling.

Thats probably the best combo you'll find.

Welcome to the forum bud.
Do you know any gyms by name? Or would it be better to go to gyms separately and ask if they have an MMA class?

Thanks for the replies, BTW.
