Greetings from a future Marine
My name is Mike, and I hail from San Jose, California. I'm 17, and currently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I'm shipping out to boot camp in June (A little more than 3 months), and am hoping to become a commissioned officer by going to OCS/Platoon Leaders Class during the Summer while in college.
My interest in MMA comes from wanting to pursue a high level of proficiency in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program), as well as being a fan of watching MMA fights in general. My friends and I have a somewhat sophisticated garage (yes, oxymoronic isn't it.) set up for boxing and grappling. Although I have no real experience, most of the other guys I work with are wrestlers who place high in CIFCCS who are also MMA aficionados.
I also work out (PT) every week at my recruiting station to prepare for boot camp, and do get instruction in MCMAP by my recruiter, a Staff Sergeant who is a black belt instructor in MCMAP.
I'm here to keep myself updated on current competitions, as well as to augment my own abilities as a fighter, and to both receive and give advice on physical training.
