new to MMA

Hey everyone names Allen but everyone just call me "PEP" Its short for Pepiton. Anyway I'm stuck in Iraq for a few more weeks and when i get home i want to start trainning MMA. there are a few places in Phoeinx i'm looking at trainning at. I know conditioning is a huge part of MMA and even though I'm in the Army i'm far from beiong in shape (i've gained about 25 pounds over here lol). So i'll be spending most of my time till winter dropping weight. anyway just stoppin by to drop a few lines.

o also i see this thing about credits below my sign in and on everyone elses stuff whats that?

Thanks Lotus! im afraid this forum is alot diffrent from others i've been on. the credits thing and the rep are diffrent, but in a good way.

Ok so I think I have my plan for what I want to start trainning on, Kick boxing and BJJ, since like 95% on fights end up on the ground i'll need to defend, and I like kick boxing because of the knee and elbox strikes which can really hurt and elbows cause cuts like crazy.

Welcome to the forums. Yeah kick boxing and BJJ are pretty standard these days. Some MMA gyms are pretty cool since they specifically adapt a fighting style to MMA competition.

I'm hoping to get down to 190 (about 35 pounds) before i start trainning i'm hoping by then my cardio will be good and i can last 2 hours in a gym. i'm 5'10 and got some wide shoulders Im hoping to get down to 170's but im afraid that if i drop that much i'll look like a tooth pick

Welcome, mate. If you're wanting to do MMA, there are MMA gyms now that just do everything. You can choose to do kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu if you like, but now a days everybody trains in everything. Once you start training, the other people you train with can probably give you good tips on cardio and losing weight safely. Don't worry about looking like a tooth pick or not losing enough weight. You just want to be at a healthy weight where you feel good. I wish you the best of luck.
