I guess I should start this by the book intro by telling you guys that i'm a huge fan of MMA. Well, i'm a fan of MMA:wink01: but i've only JUST become one. It never used to interest me until about a few months ago when I started watching that Ultimate Fighter show on Bravo. I knew enough about the sport to know who Tito Ortiz, Ken Shamrock and Chuck Liddell were, but not enough to even appreciate some of the lesser known fighters or even fighting styles of the aforementioned athletes.
I used to buy into the pro wrestling product not very long ago. I had favourites like Stone Cold, HHH and all that. Obviously I knew it was simply theatre and I was fine with that - for awhile. But something happened. The stale and predictable nature of pro wrestling had made me hungry for something different. Something raw and something I could really sink my teeth into. Next thing you know i'm rooting for guys like Chuck Liddell and Quinton Jackson to beat the living shit out of people.
I'm a late comer, I know, but I consider myself to be as big a fan as those who's been watching it for a long time. I don't do any type of fighting myself. However, the UFC has inspired me to train in various forms of martial arts. I know it's easier to observe these matches than to take part, but I would want to do it just to test myself. I'm not looking to become a fighter or anything, but I do like the idea of competition, which will probably translate into me getting my arse handed to me in spectacular style.
I have NO backgroud in any form of fighting whatsoever. Though I have always thought that i'd be a decent wrestler if it were practiced in England more. I'm just shyh of 6,2 and weigh 14 stone (about 200lbs), so I feel that i've got enough physical tools to endure training and punishment. Hopefully i can gain advice and, more importantly, give advice to all you other guys who want to do it for the hell of it.
Anyways, i'll be kind and not bore you lot any longer. Just know that i'll be posting VERY often and everyday
