Very New and Absolutely Hooked

Hey everyone. I'm yet another new guy here (as my registration date would imply ). I'm a 21 year old (22 in a month... exciting, huh?) full time university student.

I just started out with martial arts this summer with a BJJ course through the local community college. At first, it wasn't what I wanted (I wanted something to help me get fit... that I could practice outside of class), but I quickly fell in love with it. Now, I can't stop thinking about MMA. I've gone overboard with researching and applying nutrition and fitness training. I'm already excited to learn other martial arts, too.

I'm 6'0" and 225lbs. I've a very dense frame, so my weight doesn't look like it's all from fat, but that doesn't matter for my weight category.

My first competition option is in a few weeks, and I'm looking forward to getting my untrained butt handed to me.

I like what I've seen of this forum community, and am looking forward to being a part of it!

-Kenny

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I was reading some of Ironman's writing last night and was rather impressed. I'm of the "get the fundamentals right above all else" mentality (coupled with "technique is better than strength") and that seems to be similar to his view. I'll keep reading up on that thread.

IronMan has a lot of knowledge about training so i suggest you do keep reading his posts, you will get some great information from them.
