hey its Mike!
Hey I'm Mike and I am 16 years old and currently in high school. I like to be honest as most people my age usually try to lie with this stuff but Ill be honest when telling you about myself...
Okay, well I started doing martial arts in mid fourth grade and started out with Tang Soo do, I still think its better than tai kwan doe etc even though I no longer practice it, it taught me the basics of kicking such as back kicks, elbows etc. During that same time I learned hapkido(it was a hybrid school) which I still find useful for defense and what really got me interested in fighting.. during that time I also did sparing tournaments quite often around a year or two after I started learning how to fight opponents.
Currently I am learning kickboxing, BJJ, and I do some freestyle wrestling.
I weigh around 163-165 I am not totally sure, I try to eat healthy. I do home work outs every day(these get rants but I am only in high school and I'm busy) and every Saturday I work out doing cardio, weights, and skill. I am what you sorta call a "fat" fighter only being able to bench like almost 200 lol but I have views on that and I plan to improve but my legs are in better shape.
My ethics for teenagers:
I really see all the nonsense on youtube with teenagers fighting each other and people trying to act tough well I will be honest if your not planning to go into a major league and just want to do it something you enjoy its actually simpler than teens think and really isn't that hard to start up so heres a simple checklist.
-Gear(tape,gloves,shorts,etc)
-Training(gym, schools,cardio,home workouts*if you have a bro or something like I do*)
-Diet
Now in my opinion you DON'T need to be the strongest person to win, my rule of thumb is if you can lift up your opponent a few times without issues and have the stamina(cardio - I think this is most important) you can take them down, just look @ royce gracie. Practice techniques and get up that cardio and most of all!!!...
Mental, if you stay at it you can achieve anything, set your mind to do it and you can do what you want to accomplish.
Really I just want to make this whole fighting thing clearer to teens because I think all this fighting is a LOST CAUSE.
So hi I am Mike I have my morals and values and I have different views on most of this stuff and I like MMA, and everything a normal 16 year old likes to do.
