Hey guys/gals,

Been a very long time lurker and finally joined the club.

Huge fan of MMA (started watching since day one in 1993 UFC 1). I'm still living vicariously through the days of PRIDE (via DVD) with some of the greatest match-ups in the history of the sport.

Anyways, a little about myself:

I have a background in collegiate wrestling (back in the day :thumb02:), not a fighter but love to stay in shape.

Some of my favourite hobbies:
-Racing (my car and bike on the track)
-Debate/discussion of cars, MMA, etc
-Running/Staying in shape

Favourite Fighters (In no particular order):
Fedor Emelianenko
Alistair Overeem
GSP
Anderson Silva
Vitor Belfort
Takanori Gomi
Cro Cop
Frankie Edgar
Shogun
Wanderlei Silva

I'm glad to finally be posting on this forum filled with great people.

-Steve
(Residing in good ol' Canada)

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

I do have one question.... (I'd do it myself but no longer have the programs)... Who's the guy to see for a nice custom sig for my posts? I'd love to get something created with a 'PRIDE' theme in mind :thumb01:

:)

I see you're a Hendrix fan :thumb02:

I'm actually currently trying to add either a Z06 or 996 GT3 to the stable. I've been working on my bike over the summer/winter as well (will post pics if you'd like).

Cheers.

Well you mentioned the Rossi replica, so I assume you like Italian stuff... I just got done drooling about the next big thing to come out of Maranello, the 458 Italia Challenge :)

Best sounding car in a long time :) And setting off car alarms while rolling down the streets is just food for the inner child ;)

EDIT: Love the cars dude, I sadly cannot afford anything of my own ATM, I'm a poor student ;)

Put it this way, I like everything that is good :)

Yes, Ferrari's are a symphony of sound!!! :praise01:

I still love the 360 Challenge Stradale... one of the most terrifying shrieks of hell out of an exhaust.

I am very much so (Like following UFC from the start, I too watched Top Gear and Fifth Gear UK from day 1).

I'm not so much a fan of Top Gear USA.... their humour is too forced, their chemistry is lackluster and other than Foust being an incredible driver, the characters are very poor :(

I'd say any option you mentioned is a viable one

I'd say go newer and find out the entire history of the car (knowing full well most young guys mod the heck out of them) and usually beat on them regularly and consistently.

The Type S is a nice car, but it doesn't have that 'X' factor the Type R has....

It's a combination of weight savings, laser sharp sterring response, gearing and high hp/litre that make the Type R feel special and posses cheetah like reflexes on the track!

Bud- I was soo close to buying an NSX (but our Canadian market is rediculous).

It's got that great aura from Senna and the F1 inspired background heritage.

It'll always have a place in my heart (may very well own one when a deal arises)... until then I can't justify the $ figure when a Z06/GT3 give me much more bang for performance for similar or cheaper $.

That being said though, the NSX has aged very, very gracefully and has incredible Charm :thumb02:

Well in my book what truly makes the type R's awesome is the revs, and the joy it gives... It just makes you wanna ride it 'till the wheels fall off... Taking a Civic to 7000 or 7500 rpm is just an undescribable feeling, and it's something that you can only elsewhere in bikes or really expensive supercars (Or rotary engines, which are, sadly, a rare thing these days)

BTW, I'm a sucker for a rotary engine if you didn't realize from reading the above ;P

I love high strung/reving N/A engines...

The problem(s) I find with the Wankel Rotary is it's poor gas mileage (for the small displacement) and big lack of power under the curve.

The FD was such a beast of a car for the track, that's where Mazda needs to get back to. The RX8 I feel does a lackluster job in everything BUT handling (not saying I hate it). I find their Japanese counter parts (Honda) produce excellent sounding and easy HP producing engines that take a beating and keep on ticking.

Sure, Honda makes high-rpm engines that last you a lifetime, but nothing N/A gives you a kick quite like a rotary, I once had an old Mazda RX7 (83) and it was a hoot... It was so unreliable, but still so lovable, it was awesome :)

It looked just like this, though the rims were different :) For me it's important that I bond with whatever I'm driving, passion over reliability :)

And older cars just reek of personality

100% Agree, you have to bond with the car... it has to have character.

All I need now for the track would be an Ariel Atom with Honda's K20 Type R S/C :thumb02: (Never mind the new V8, that would just be devistation)

Bud- Ultra clean man :praise01:

Hit- I hear you... if you go WRX, stay under the 07 years... I had multiple people I know with minor upgrades on there newer WRX/265's and blow the 5 speed tranny.
