amateur fights in Japan
Hello- wondering if anyone has some suggestions on promotions or contact info of the promoters in Tokyo. I am part of a team of American and British athletes who want to compete in MMA. We are all training in China, but there is nothing of an MMA scene here. So we are considering a trip to Tokyo to fight in October. Most of our guys have not fought MMA before but have competed in wrestling or ju-jitsu tournaments.
Looking to fight: Fred at 185lbs has won several grappling tournaments and is a British power-lifting champion Sean at 135lbs has a 7-2 MMA record and a 2-0 kickbox record Obviously we aren't looking to fight on a major card, but for those small shows our foreign look should attract a good crowd! Thanks for any suggestions! |

I'd say either Shooto or Pancrease. From what I understand they both have something of amateur divisions. However, I wouldn't know personally.

thanks for your help. I'll look into those promotions. I've heard of their pro bouts but didn't know about the amateur cards.

I think Shooto actually started as an amateur promotion. Pancrease I know because sailors on the base I stayed at did Pancrease bouts. Then again they might've actually been paid.
