If you think some of these guys are bad refs or tend to stop fights early watch the IFL, particularly the match sets between the razorclaws (frank shamrock) and the lions (ken shamrock) two fights were stopped completely immaturely, blatantly. One, the guy had him and was hitting the back of his head, the guy getting the back of his head struck was still moving but left the back of his head exposed and the ref stopped it after like 3 strikes which were illegal in the IFL, and the guy throwing the illegal blows, the ref stopped it because the guy wasnt defending even though he was going for a grappling position... irritating.

Then in the heavyweights one of the tubby guys was laying down and not really doing to many offensive things but he was defending himself very well, and the ref stopped the fight... It was lame.

A lot of people kinda dont really focus on the refs, if you have bad refs, you have bad matches. You can tell that most refs in the IFL are from the boxing background because everytime they get into a clinch or go the floor they are lost and keep standing them up even though they are working from the ground/mounted/side positions.
I agree with you 100%, if you have bad refs then it will make the sport worse. I have only seen a couple of fights on FSN but I will have to pay attention tonight to see how they do.

I wasnt too impressed witht he fighting, but its was ok, also i was at work, and couldnt watch all the fights closly, so i may be a lil off on som e of the fights.

but the thing that pissed me off the most, was them hyping that someone was taken out on a stretcher.... seemed to me like hyping a side freak show instead of a true MMA Fight...

all in all i thought it was OK... nothing great, but not terrible. i just didnt like the hype of the guy being taken out on a stretcher.

IFL is NO UFC

With the exception of exceptional young fighter Chris Horodecki (amazing kicks) and a few other worthy fights...the IFL Premeire was disappointing.

The whole glorifying of BLOOD and "SOMEONE LEAVES ON A STRETCHER" took away from the sport and athleticism of MMA and put it more in an arena of WWE. Dana White has promoted the UFC so it is a credible sport with some of the world;s best, most dispilined and talented athletes. This cheesy broadcasr cheapens MMA to nothing but glood and guts.

I think Dana should take this young kid and raise him UFC style.

Another strange point...most fighters were strikers and kickers there was very little grappling. (Even the figher with the Jujitsu Tattoo stayed on his fight...to lose.)

I will watch again to see if it turns around but MMA is a sport and should be treateed as such.

I completely agree more. THe fighters have respect for each other and their sport and are there to win by talent not to injury. THat was super annoying.

The IFL specifically chose those fights to be seen, the Ju-Jitsu tatoo guy was striking because he was proving to the other guy that he could strike. The commentator Stephen Quadros even mentioned that during the fight. Those were a select few from last year. Most fans want to see stand up striking but alot of fighters can grapple, they added a Marco Ruas team this year and they can grapple with the best of them.

The UFC and Pride also glorified their shows this way at first. This gets people's attention, it's called "Shock value". Once a person becomes interested then they will learn that it is not all blood and guts, don't be surprised if the show starts to glorify the blood and guts less as the show goes on.

Besides the stretcher part the thing that made me angry was they cut so many of the fights short. It seemed like some of the one round fights were even cut short, but I am not going to judge the show yet until I see a couple more episodes.

If you didnt like Battleground i woud watch the real show on FSN. I think it was more of the networks doing in promoting the taken of in a strecher thing.
